Is it safe to build a PC on a carpet?

Avoid building on the floor if you can! It's uncomfortable and can scratch or damage small components due to the carpet fibers. A table is much better, but if it's a must to use carpet, just make sure you're careful with static. Ground yourself by touching a metal object first.
