I'm planning to build a new computer and I'm considering a 14th generation Intel processor. However, I've heard there were some serious issues in the past, like elevated voltages that were damaging the chips. Have these problems been addressed now, or should I be cautious?

I personally wouldn't buy a used chip at this point. New ones seem fine if you can get a good deal. Just be sure to do that BIOS update first. The 14600K is currently more expensive since others have caught on to its reputation. From what I've seen, the higher-end i7 and i9 chips have the most issues, while the i5-14600K seems stable. I went for a 14600K myself and so far it's been solid, plus it has a 5-year warranty!
It's kind of a mixed bag. Intel says everything is fine if you're using the latest BIOS updates and sticking to their recommended power settings. But honestly, I'd take that with a grain of salt because they've made similar claims before and then backtracked. Some folks still report issues with the newer chips, even with updates, though it's definitely less common now.
Honestly, I think it's been sorted out for quite a while. As long as you keep your BIOS updated, you should be good. I have a 13900KS and it runs beautifully after some initial quirks were fixed. Just make sure to check the warranty too, most affected CPUs now have a solid 5-year coverage.
