Hey everyone! I just cleaned my gaming PC's case using a microfiber cloth that was slightly damp with distilled water. I only wiped down the outside metal panels and made sure to avoid the vents or openings. The PC was powered on during this, which I know isn't ideal. Everything seems fine afterward—temperatures are normal and no crashes. I have a few questions: Is there any real risk in doing this? Could a bit of moisture cause problems later? And what's the safest way to clean it in the future? Thanks!

I've only ever used a dry cloth or a mini duster for cleaning. If your case isn't super dirty, that might be a better approach for the future.
It's generally not a great idea to mess with your PC while it's powered on. Best practice is to treat electronics with caution. Just to be safe, turning it off next time is the way to go.
You probably got away with it this time, but just turning it off before cleaning is much safer. Even a tiny drop of water can cause issues, so it's worth being careful in the future.
Yeah, while your PC is fine now, it’s not a habit you want to make. Just take a moment to power it down next time you clean; it really only takes a few seconds.
Honestly, if you made sure the cloth was just barely damp and didn’t get any moisture near the internals, you're likely fine. But remember, it's always better to turn the PC off before you clean it, just to avoid any risks.
