Is it Possible to Switch from Bazzite to Mint Without Reinstalling Everything?

I've been using Bazzite for about a month and a half after switching from Windows 10, but I'm feeling pretty frustrated with it. Some features, like Bazaar, fail to launch most of the time. I've also had issues with getting apps to start automatically and keeping Block Num enabled after logging in. I've heard mixed opinions about Bazzite, and I'm considering switching to Mint for something more stable. Is it possible to switch distros without losing all my current setup, or will I need to reinstall everything from scratch?

Just to clarify, Bazzite is built on Fedora, while Mint is based on Ubuntu, which uses a completely different package system (apt instead of dnf). Since Bazzite is an immutable distro, it's designed to be more stable. I think it comes down to personal preference, but if you're struggling, maybe focus on figuring out what's going wrong with your current setup. Forcing upgrades from one to another isn't worth it; you don't want to create a mix of systems that could lead to unexpected issues.

Honestly, switching from Bazzite to Mint without a fresh install isn’t feasible. It’s technically possible, but you’ll run into more headaches than it’s worth. If your main issues like app launches and settings not sticking persist, maybe look into troubleshooting those instead or explore other Fedora or immutable options. You might find a better fit without full replacement.

It's not going to work out in your favor. While there's lots of merit to making the switch, a full reinstallation will be needed to move to Mint from Bazzite. There are different flavors of Fedora that you might like even more, so consider testing those first!

Switching directly to Mint isn’t really an option without a full reinstall. However, if you're open to other options, you could try moving to Fedora-based distros, which includes the Rebasing approach. This lets you experiment with different setups while maintaining some of your existing applications. You might want to check what apps aren't launching in Flathub and investigate their launch commands; it might give you clues on what's going wrong. I personally think Bazzite has some modern features that might surprise you, so maybe give it another look before you jump ship.
