Is it safe to install drivers meant for older Windows versions on Windows 10?

I recently got a Slimtype DVD A DU8A6SH CD burner, but the burning software I'm using, CDBurnerXP, doesn't recognize it. I think it's because I haven't installed the drivers yet. I found some drivers online that are compatible with Windows 8, 7, XP, and Vista, but I'm running Windows 10. I'm curious whether installing these older drivers could work for my setup, or if I should look for alternative options since there aren't any drivers specifically for Windows 10. What do you suggest?

CDBurnerXP hasn’t been updated in ages, so it might not work well with your drive. If you're able to read discs, chances are you don't actually need new drivers. You could also try different CD burning software, which might do a better job.

Just try installing the drivers! There’s a good chance it will work, or it won't, and then you'll know for sure. If Windows gives you any trouble about driver signing, you can usually find ways to get around that.

Exactly! It's pretty common to install older drivers on newer systems. Just make sure to check if there's a specific x64 version available since older OS often used 32-bit.
