I accidentally damaged my DisplayPort (DP) cable by forcing it through a tight space with a hidden nail, and now I'm wondering if it's still safe to use. Although it works fine and I can bend it around the damaged area without any issues, I'm concerned about potential risks. I do have some electrical tape to seal the damaged part if needed. Should I keep using it?

I’d recommend replacing it. The damage seems serious enough that some conductors might be exposed. Even though it’s not high voltage, damaged cables can still create hot spots under heavy load, which could be a fire risk.
It's generally okay since DP cables don't carry high voltage. That damage looks like just the shielding, so if you wrap it with electrical tape, you should be fine. Just keep an eye on it for any changes!

That’s a bit overboard! DP cables mainly transmit signals and are rated for low current. They won’t start a fire unless something's really wrong, plus it’s only 0.5A at 3.3V.
