I've been thinking about making the switch to Linux due to concerns about Windows and OneDrive, which I've heard many horror stories about. However, I still expect to need Windows from time to time. If I decide to install Linux alongside Windows, will Windows continue to update or modify its partition, or should I just remove it completely?

Honestly, if you keep Windows on the drive without using it, it shouldn't bother your Linux files. Just do what feels right for you!
Have you considered getting an affordable second-hand machine instead? Many businesses are selling off their old Windows 10 machines now that they've upgraded to Windows 11. You could get one for pretty cheap, and it could save you hassle.
If you're not using Windows, it's probably best to just remove it. You can always reinstall or use a virtual machine later if you need it. Just remember to disable fast startup if you go for dual booting!
Thanks for the tip! Sounds like deleting it is the best route.
OneDrive has its ups and downs! For some, it's one of the better features of Windows, but I get the hesitations. Just be careful and don't accept every prompt that pops up on your screen.
Totally get that! I just prefer keeping my files local. I don’t trust cloud services too much.
I actually kept a partition with a clean, debloated Windows install just in case. Sometimes it's good to have a backup plan!

Great idea! Just watch out for those sellers stripping down the specs to make more money!
