Is It Safe to Mix Different Models of RAM from the Same Brand?

I'm currently using Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM, specifically the 16GB (8X2) 3200 CL16 model CMK16GX4M2E3200C16. I came across another set of RAM that's also 16GB but with a different model, CMK16GX4M2Z3200C16. The seller's RAM is a good deal, but I noticed their model has a 'Z' instead of an 'E' in the model number. Both sets have the same speed, voltage, and CAS latency. I've heard there's a chance I might run into issues mixing them, but I'm looking for some advice. Can anyone help me out?

As long as the voltage, speed, and latency (CL) are the same, you should be good to go! The model names can be a bit arbitrary, so the main specs are what you really need to focus on. Mixing RAM can sometimes lead to stability issues, but it's not too common if those specs match.

The only way to know for sure is to give it a shot. You might have some problems, but often you can fix these by running the RAM at a lower speed. It’s a bit of trial and error, but many people do this successfully!

I’m confused, though. If they’re both the same speed at 3200MHz, why would I need to reduce the speed?
