Is it safe to use generic motherboard cables with my Corsair PSU?

I recently upgraded my pre-built PC's power supply unit to a Corsair RMX1000, and everything was working fine until I accidentally damaged one of the 24-pin cables while organizing the wires. I ordered a replacement set, but they only come in pricey bundles. I've noticed some generic motherboard cables that seem well-reviewed, and I'm considering using those instead to save some money. Are generic cables safe, or should I stick with Corsair's product to avoid any risks?

I'd advise against using generic PSU cables. They're not standardized, and using the wrong ones can potentially damage your components. Sticking to Corsair cables is the safer option.

Definitely go for the official Corsair cables, especially since they're designed for your specific model. Just make sure to double-check the compatibility—you don’t want to mix up the RMX1000 with the RM1000i.

Oh wow, now I'm a bit worried! I ordered the red ones and saw they were type 4, but I have the RMX1000, not the RM1000i. Should I cancel my order?
