Is It Time for a New PC Build After 6 Years?

I've recently started getting back into PC gaming after about six years. My current setup, a prebuilt system, has served me well, but it's struggling with newer games lately. Here's my current configuration: Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660, 16GB (2x8) DDR4 RAM, a 1.5TB SATA SSD, and a 600W Xilence PSU with an ASUS motherboard. Lately, I've been dropping settings to low to maintain playable FPS and avoid lag spikes. I'm considering a full upgrade, possibly building a new PC from scratch with a budget of around €2000 (flexible if necessary). I'd prefer to build it myself, but I'm also open to good prebuilt options in Europe. Is now a good time to upgrade considering the current prices for components?

If you're wondering whether now’s the best time for an upgrade, I'd say it could get worse down the line. New hardware is being snapped up by AI companies, which might drive prices higher. If your aim is mainly gaming, you might consider upgrading just the graphics card first; the 4070 has been getting good reviews. Alternatively, if you're into CPU-heavy games like Counter-Strike, a Ryzen 5700X3D could enhance your performance a lot.

I get that! It sounds like you want to future-proof your setup since your motherboard doesn't support DDR5. An upgrade for that part might be necessary, especially with all the new tech coming out!
