I've been having some trouble with my CyberPower AVRG750U UPS lately. It just started shutting off on its own, even when nothing is plugged into it and there are no power interruptions. This started happening after eight years of use, so I'm guessing the battery might be worn out. Is there a way to diagnose if it's just the battery that needs replacing, or might the unit itself be faulty? I want to avoid spending money on a new battery if the whole UPS is on the fritz. Thanks for any help!

Honestly, I'd say it's probably time to replace the battery. My UPS also started acting up after about five years. It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to protecting your gear. If it can't do that, what’s the point?
Agreed! New batteries are relatively cheap, and a lot of times, they're just an easy swap. Don't stress too much about it.
From what you’re describing, it sounds like the battery isn't able to pass its voltage check. That usually indicates it's on its last legs.
Installing a new battery typically costs around $50-$60 for a good brand, or maybe $30-$40 for a cheaper option. Just make sure to pick a high-rate battery for your UPS. They are designed for quick power delivery during outages. I use these kinds of batteries, but you'll need to make sure they fit your UPS model. I’d definitely recommend getting a new battery. They’re super easy to install, and you can usually find one on Amazon for about a quarter of the price of a new UPS. I've been using some UPSs that are over 20 years old, and I’ve replaced the batteries multiple times with no issues.
Is there a way to confirm it’s just the battery before replacing it? I’d like to be sure.

Yeah, 8 years is actually a decent run. I had mine last about 6 years before it gave out. They often just become disposable after a certain point.
