Is It Worth Having a Separate Home Partition for Reinstalls?

I've been running into issues with updates going haywire, leading to complete reinstalls—recently with Bazzite, of all things! I typically just use the 'Software Update' button and then do a Topgrade update, but I found both update images were corrupt this time. This got me wondering: I've seen people mention having a separate home partition. Would that actually help in situations like this? If so, how exactly?

Having a separate home partition can definitely help! It lets you reinstall the OS without touching your personal files and settings. Also, if you use tools like Timeshift or OpenSUSE's Snapper, you could easily roll back any problematic updates right from the grub menu, which simplifies recovery a lot.

I agree! I've used Mint with a separate home partition before, and it usually works like a charm. Still, I'm looking for more backup solutions to avoid reinstalling everything every single time. Turns out I can't create partitions post-install with Bazzite, which is a bummer.
