In my opinion, the only thing really worth paying for is an accredited degree in computer science. A college degree can still be a valuable asset. Honestly, there are so many free resources available that paying for beginner courses doesn't really make sense, as they're not going to make you more employable than the free ones.
You might also want to check out The Odin Project or Fullstack Open. Both are fantastic and completely free! Oh, and definitely brush up on your research skills; this topic has been discussed quite a bit!
