Hey everyone! About a year ago, I built my PC and went with the Intel 14400F, but I'm starting to find its performance lacking. I just spotted a used 13900KF for $273, and I can trade in my 14400F to get that price down to $148. Do you think this upgrade is worthwhile? By the way, I'm using a 4070ti GPU.

Honestly, $273 for a potentially damaged 13900KF isn’t a great deal. For just a bit more, you could grab a brand new 14700K, and it'll likely give you better performance without the risk of degradation. Unless you really need those extra cores for specific tasks, I'd think hard before making this swap.
Really depends on what games you're playing and at what resolution. If you're running games on 1440p or 4k, upgrading might not help much. But if you're into FPS or sim games, a better CPU might give you a slight boost.
If you can test the used one first, that could change things. A full stock BIOS and a quick Blender render can help you find out if there are any issues without putting too much strain on the CPU. Just 30 mins in Blender could be revealing!
Be cautious with that used 13900KF! If it hasn't had BIOS updates, there's a good chance it could be degraded, especially since many people don’t keep up with those updates. You might be better off sticking with your 14400F unless you're desperate for more performance.
Oh man, I completely forgot about the voltage issues! Thanks for the heads up—definitely think I'll hold onto my 14400.
I wouldn’t risk it with a used 13th or 14th gen CPU. There's a high chance it's not in great shape, and you won't know until you start experiencing issues. Just stick with what you have unless you’re desperate for more performance.

Yeah, I agree! I doubt the gaming difference would be more than 20% anyway.
