Is It Worth Trading My 6600 XT for a 6700 XT with Driver Issues?

Hey everyone! I'm currently using an XFX Merc 308 6600 XT and found a deal for a XFX Swift 319 6700 XT with 12GB for just $118. The seller mentioned that it's experiencing driver issues, specifically black screens after installing drivers. I'm considering whether it's worth trading my fully functional 6600 XT for the 6700 XT despite its problems, especially since the regular price here is about $412. I'm okay with putting in some effort to fix computer parts. Should I go for this deal and risk dealing with possible issues, or hold onto my 6600 XT and wait for a better opportunity? Here's my current setup: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI A520M-A Pro, 16GB 3200MHz, and a 550W PSU.

If you can fix the 6700 XT, you'd see around a 30% performance boost, which is significant. It really comes down to if you're comfortable taking that gamble. If the price isn't too much for you, it might be worth it. But keep in mind, prices for a 6700 XT usually hover around $200, not $400. For $400, you could almost grab a new 9060 XT 16GB!

I actually wanted a 9060 XT too, but they’re priced at around $500 and I'm on a tight budget due to my part-time job. The seller said he took it to two repair shops; one said it had driver issues, while the other could benchmark it for 3 hours without problems. I'm able to use it while figuring things out, but I worry about the fix.

It really depends on the problem. It could just be a software glitch, which you might be able to resolve quickly. However, if it turns out to be a hardware issue, you could end up with an expensive paperweight for $118. Just be prepared for any outcome!

That’s exactly my concern, which is why I’m asking for thoughts on the risk. It’s a tough decision!
