Is it worth upgrading from a 5600G to a 5700X for $100 with a 6750XT?

I'm mostly playing World of Warcraft, doing some browsing, and using my setup as an HTPC. Normally, I wouldn't consider an upgrade, but I can get a 5700X for just $100. I'm debating this since I don't plan on upgrading my entire PC until AM6 comes out, which is likely in 2027. Is this a good deal?

Have you considered whether to upgrade to the 5700X or get a 5700X3D from eBay for around $200? The 5700X3D would provide a significant upgrade and might last longer, especially since AM6 isn't expected until 2028. The extra cache could really help with WoW.

Considering that the 5600G is closer in performance to the 5500, upgrading to the 5700X could give you a nice boost, especially since you've got a 6750XT. A friend of mine saw around a 20% FPS increase when he upgraded from a 3400G to a 5500 with a similar GPU setup. So it might be worth it for you at that price!

I’m holding off upgrading too, keeping my 5600 for now until AM6 or at least until GTA6 is out. My setup with a 6750XT is working fine for now.

Absolutely, I'd go for it. The 5600G uses a monolithic die, while the other CPUs use a chiplet design. You’ll definitely notice performance gains in various tasks with the 5700X.

For just $100, I would say it’s a reasonable upgrade. It's a solid deal if you’re looking for better performance.

Agreed! At that price, it's a no-brainer.
