Is it worth upgrading from an i3-12100F to an i5 for gaming?

I'm currently using an i3-12100F and I'm contemplating an upgrade. I'm considering whether to move to an i5-12400F or even an i5-14400F, although the latter is a bit pricier. I'm also upgrading my RAM from 16GB to 32GB soon. My primary usage will be gaming, particularly story-driven games at 1080p, and I have an RX 6600 graphics card. What do you think? Is now a good time to upgrade my CPU?

The i5-12400F is definitely better, but the difference is minimal. If you can get it for a really good price, it might make sense, but otherwise, it might not be worth the upgrade hassle.

It's priced around $146, so that's not too bad!

What motherboard are you using? I'd suggest waiting for a deal on the i5-14600K; it was around $150 a month or so ago with a game bundle. Black Friday might bring similar deals soon. If you're outside Europe, I can't help much with prices there.

I have a Gigabyte B660M. Also, I’m in South Africa, so I’m not sure what to expect here!
