I'm considering upgrading my GPU and wanted to hear your thoughts on whether it's worth it. With the current market situation and an outlook that doesn't seem promising for GPUs in 2026, I'm a bit hesitant to spend significantly more than MSRP. In my country, the RX 9070 XT is priced between 580€ to 700€, depending on the brand. I play games at 1440p and my CPU is a Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Should I sell my RX 7800 XT for this upgrade?

I made this upgrade during Black Friday and it was worth it for me since I was able to enjoy improved features, especially for AAA games. Just check how much you can sell your 7800 XT for before making a decision—it might lower the upgrade cost significantly!

You'll need to get a solid price for your 7800 XT to make this worthwhile. The market dynamics really play into how feasible this jump is.

I thought about selling it for around $250 but I’m doubtful if anyone will bite. It's tough out there!

If you've been eyeing the upgrade and can afford it, I'd say go for it! No one can really predict how prices will shift, especially as time passes with increasing demand. Buying now ensures you get it at a reasonable price, and you still end up with the GPU you want—sounds like a win-win to me!

Totally agree! I don't want to regret missing out on an upgrade when prices go up after January 2026.

Honestly, I'd hold off on upgrading right now. The performance boost may not be worth the cost, and new cards might be launching soon. It’s a waiting game—if you can hold out, I’d recommend it.

I get what you're saying, but new cards are often priced way higher than MSRP. Past trends show we’re likely to see scalping, not normal pricing.

I don't think it's essential unless you're really after advanced ray tracing and upscaling options. Sure, the 9070 XT is a bump up in performance, but if you paid under MSRP for the 7800 XT, sticking with it could be wiser for now.

Definitely true! I was looking at making a move, but reconsidering based on my current setup and how well my 7800 XT holds up.
