I've been using my DVD burner/player without any issues for years to burn MP3s on my Windows laptop, and it still plays old game CDs perfectly fine. Lately, however, I've encountered problems with every DVD burning software I try, as they all throw error messages and fail to burn MP3s onto my 4.7 GB Verbatim DVD-Rs. What's going on?

It sounds like your DVD burner might be malfunctioning. Could also be the discs you're using—have you made sure they're actually blank? DVD-Rs can only be written once, so just double-check that.

Thanks for the tip! I've got the following error messages:
- **CDBurnerXP**: "An error occurred while burning the disc. Most likely the disc is not usable. Usually these errors happen if the inserted media is not compatible with your drive or of poor quality."
- **Windows Media Player**: "Windows Media Player could not complete burning because the disc is not compatible with your drive. Try inserting a different kind of recordable media."
- **BurnAware Free**: "Burn process failed. A write-error occurred."
All discs are indeed empty, so that's a good lead to consider!
