I've been using an older setup for my Plex server, specifically an i5-4670k paired with an Nvidia Quadro 4060. It's been working fine for my needs, but I recently got a desktop for free that has a 13th gen i7-3700 (though I think it's actually the 13700 with a 2.10 GHz clock speed) and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060. I want to know if it's a good idea to transfer my hard drives to this new machine. Is the CPU and GPU in the new setup a significant upgrade over what I currently have? Both machines have the same amount of RAM, which is 16GB.

I’d say it’s worth it! The increased processing power and modern GPU can enhance your streaming experience and make multitasking easier. Plus, since you got the new PC for free, you might as well take advantage of it!
Actually, the i7-13700 is a decent step up from your current i5-4670k, even if it’s just a modest upgrade. You’ll notice better performance with the new CPU, especially for tasks like video transcoding on Plex. The RTX 4060 is also an improvement over the Quadro 4060, not just in gaming but also in processing power for operations like hardware decoding. So yes, moving your drives would definitely be beneficial!
But is it really worth all the hassle of switching everything? Can't you just stick with what works?

Got it, that makes sense! Thanks for the reassurance!
