Is it Worth Upgrading to a 1440p Monitor Right Now?

I'm considering upgrading from my current 75Hz 1080p monitor to a 1440p one. Should I go for a 1440p 180Hz monitor, or would it be better to stick with a 1080p 180Hz and save up for a graphics card upgrade? My current setup includes a Ryzen 5 5600G and an RX 6600.

Honestly, I'd suggest saving up for a better GPU before upgrading your monitor. It doesn’t make sense to buy a high-resolution monitor if your hardware won’t perform well on it. Waiting could save you some cash in the long run!

But I do need the screen space for my work too! Don’t you think a 4k monitor would be better for that?

I think going for a GPU upgrade first is the way to go! The RX 6600 might not deliver smooth gameplay at 1440p, even on lower settings. Save money and make sure your setup can handle it when you do switch!

Your GPU might struggle a bit at 1440p, especially if you want to keep consistent frame rates in games. It’s a solid resolution for productivity, though! Just be careful with how fallback resolutions look on a 1440p screen; they often don’t scale that well.

I’ve had my ups and downs with higher resolutions. You might enjoy 1440p for casual gaming more than high refresh rates if you're not into competitive gaming. So, if you upgrade, make sure it’s for a solid monitor that supports good visuals!

Yeah, but OLEDs are pretty pricey! It’s a big jump from a standard 1080p monitor.

1440p is really nice; once you experience it, going back to 1080p is tough! Just keep in mind that your RX 6600 might not handle demanding games at that resolution too well.

Do you think my setup can actually run games at 1440p? I'm worried the RX 6600 might struggle too much.
