Is it worth upgrading to a higher-end CPU for gaming?

Hey everyone, I'm currently gaming at 4K with about 100-120fps using a GeForce 4080 and a Ryzen 5 7600x. I'm considering an upgrade to a Ryzen 9 9800x3d, but I'm wondering if it's worth it, especially since I've been experiencing some low and inconsistent frame rates in poorly optimized games like Monster Hunter: World. What do you think?

Since you're playing at 4K, most of your performance relies on your GPU. However, a stronger CPU could definitely help with those lower frame rates. I would actually recommend looking into the 7800x3d instead; it offers similar performance but at a $100 lower price point.

Oh wow, I thought the 7800x3d was AM4 too, but you're right! It does sound like a better choice!
