I'm currently working with a 1440p setup and I'm looking to future-proof my system a bit. I'm considering upgrading from 3200MHz DDR4 to over 6000MHz DDR5 RAM since prices seem to be on the rise. I have an RTX 3080 and a 12600K processor, but I'm planning to upgrade to a 13700K or 14700K soon. I know I'll need a new motherboard for this upgrade; my existing one isn't very high quality, so I'm eyeing a nice DDR5 motherboard, like the MSI Z690 or Z790 Carbon. I use my PC for both gaming and work, so I'm not interested in switching to an AMD CPU at this time.

You should probably reconsider. Upgrading to DDR5 means you’ll need a new motherboard, and there are plenty of benchmarks showing that at 1440p and with your RTX 3080, the performance gains from faster RAM are pretty minimal. If your GPU is already maxing out, faster RAM and CPU won't help much.
Right now, the prices for RAM are actually dropping due to changes in the market, so it's worth keeping an eye on that. Plus, switching from DDR4 to DDR5 will barely improve your gaming performance. I would recommend upgrading your CPU first and, if you have extra cash, looking into a better GPU like the 9070XT or 5070.
Honestly, future-proofing is kind of a lost cause now. The days when a midrange card could handle everything at max settings for years are over, mainly due to optimization issues. You might want to focus on upgrading your CPU instead.
Just a heads up, upgrading to DDR5 requires a new motherboard since DDR4 boards can't use it. The performance differences aren't significant enough to warrant the upgrade; you might get better bang for your buck by investing in a new CPU instead.

Exactly! If you're going to switch out that many parts, you could look at a new gaming platform entirely, like an AM5 setup with an x3d processor.
