Is Linux Right for Me? Performance and File Migration Concerns

I'm considering switching to Linux and I have a couple of concerns. First, will I lose any performance, and can I transfer my important files over to Linux smoothly? I'm aware that Linux is generally lighter than Windows, but I'm worried about driver compatibility. My setup includes an RTX 4060 and a Ryzen 7 7745HX, and I'm using an Ardor R16-R7ND403 laptop. Also, between Arch and Kubuntu, which Linux distribution would you recommend for my needs?

I wouldn't recommend Arch for beginners. It's better suited for experienced users. Instead, try Linux Mint; it's beginner-friendly and it even offers an option to install Nvidia drivers during setup. Also, it’s handy to learn some basic Bash commands like `pwd`, `cd`, and `ls` for navigating the system.

Migrating to Linux can be a bit tricky, especially coming from a different operating system. It’s like comparing apples to oranges, so expect some differences. Just be prepared for a learning curve!

Definitely avoid starting with Arch. If you're unsure about file transfers to Linux, go for something easier to use like Linux Mint or Kubuntu. They'll be much friendlier while you get the hang of Linux.

Yeah, Mint is great for new users! It's also a solid option for long-term use, not just as a starter.
