I'm curious about the boundaries of Linux distributions. If I start with a preconfigured distro and modify it extensively—like changing its structure, adding custom features, or modifying the GUI—does that mean I've created a new distribution? I know many distros build upon others, but at what point does it become its own unique distro?

From what I've seen, you can pretty much transform any distro into something new with enough tweaks. Distros are really just pre-packaged collections of software, not entirely unique systems by themselves. So yeah, if you change it enough, it could be considered a different distro!
