Is My 128GB USB Drive a Fake?

I recently bought a 128GB USB 3.0 flash drive to store some important data. A friend suggested using H2testw to verify if the drive is genuine. After running the test overnight, it reported that only 14.8GB was valid and the rest was corrupted. I tried formatting the drive and even uploaded a 40GB folder, which seemed to upload just fine despite the slow writing speeds. When I consulted my friend again, they advised me to trust the H2testw results and mentioned that the files might become corrupted later, recommending a return or replacement. I'm concerned and need a second opinion: is H2testw reliable? Did I get scammed? Is the drive actually okay?

These counterfeit drives can accept data, but they just overwrite the same small section of memory repeatedly. So, even if it seems to work initially, it's likely that the files are just overwritten and will ultimately be corrupted. Definitely trust H2testw, and refund that drive if you can. By the way, how much did you pay for it? Sometimes the price can be a big indicator of a scam.

I paid 1650 INR for it. I thought that was a good deal, especially for a SanDisk!

You absolutely got scammed! H2testw is very reliable, and based on the results you shared, your drive may only be functioning as a small 16GB USB. It’s crucial that you take action because your data will be at risk. Please get a refund if possible; don’t let the seller keep your money!

Unfortunately, it sounds like you got scammed. Fake USB drives often have a much smaller actual capacity than advertised. They can accept new data but just overwrite the same small chunk of memory each time. You might think everything's fine, but the truth is your data could vanish without warning. Definitely trust H2testw—return that drive before it's too late!

That's so shady! Why would anyone do such a thing? That's just evil. Who benefits from selling fake drives?

H2testw is a legit tool, and your drive is definitely counterfeit. If it's reporting only 14.8GB as safe, you're likely dealing with a drive that only pretends to have 128GB of space. It's crucial to return it as soon as you can; any data beyond that 14.8GB is basically lost. Good luck with your return!

Yeah, the seller sounds sketchy. It's frustrating when they don't acknowledge the issue. It's like they don't care!
