Why Is My GPU Suddenly Running at 100% After a New Build?

Hey everyone! I recently completed my gaming PC build about a week ago, and it was running well until last night. My game started crashing, and when I checked, I found my GPU hitting 99-100% usage the moment I launched a game. Initially, it was around 80%, so this sudden spike is puzzling. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the GPU drivers, lowering the game graphics settings, and even tested various games, but they all push the GPU to full utilization. The temperatures are high but not critically so. My setup includes a Ryzen 5 9600 and a Radeon 9600 XT with 16GB of memory. Any insights would be appreciated!

You really want to maximize GPU utilization, so no worries there! But those crashes are concerning. What exact temperatures are you seeing? If they're on the higher side, that could indicate airflow issues.

The temps are a bit higher, around 80°C during gaming, but I thought that should be okay? Any tips for better cooling?

If you're crashing, check the error codes if there are any. Make sure your drivers are fully updated; if the crashes persist, consider rolling back to a previous driver version to see if that stabilizes things. What games are causing the crashes?

It's normal for GPUs to run at such high usage, especially if there isn't a frame rate cap. Try using MSI Afterburner to set a frame rate limit that matches your monitor’s refresh rate and see if that helps reduce usage. Also, any crashing issues?

Running your GPU at 99-100% while gaming is pretty much what you want for optimal performance. Just make sure you're not experiencing stutters or crashes alongside that. Also, check if an AMD driver update might have boosted your performance or caused some issues!
