Is My Computer Normal After a Factory Reset?

I tried downloading a mod for a game, but it turned out to have malware. I decided to factory reset my Windows 11 to get rid of it, but now it's taking a long time to load. My computer is generally pretty slow and has had issues in the past, like taking hours for security updates. Is this kind of loading time normal, and is there anything I can do in this situation?

It sounds like you might be hitting some classic issues with factory resets, especially if your PC is already slow. Normally, a factory reset shouldn't take this long unless there are underlying problems. While it’s possible it’s still loading, you might want to consider doing a clean installation of Windows if it stays stuck. That tends to be more reliable than the built-in reset option. Just make sure you back up anything important if you can.

Just a heads up: factory reset can be hit or miss. Some people find it works fine, but others run into issues like you're having. If it's really taking forever, that could be a sign your computer needs more than just a reset. Maybe look into reinstalling Windows from a USB stick instead.

Yes, it's not uncommon for a factory reset to take a while, especially on older systems. If it's still stuck loading after a long time, it might be best to force a restart. If you do that, you may need to try a fresh install if the factory reset fails. It's a pain, but it could resolve any issues left over from the malware.
