Is My CPU Bottlenecking with the New 5060ti?

Hey everyone! I recently received a 5060ti 8GB as a birthday gift, and while I'm excited about the upgrade, I'm not getting the performance I expected—only around 85-90 FPS in games like Warzone, CoD, and DbD. I'm using a Ryzen 7 5800X, but I'm starting to wonder if my CPU is bottlenecking my build. What do you think; should I consider upgrading my CPU or is it just about tweaking some settings? Thanks for any insights!

Using MSI Afterburner can help a lot! Set it up while playing your games to check CPU and GPU usage. If the CPU is running high, then that’s your bottleneck; otherwise, it could just be the GPU holding you back. Also, if you’re getting similar FPS in benchmarks with your setup, it’s probably not a bottleneck issue—just how things are landing with that card right now.

Thanks! I’ll definitely try Afterburner to monitor performance. That sounds like a smart move.

I checked some benchmarks at 1080p and the FPS you’re getting is pretty standard for the 5060ti, even with a 9800X3D. It seems likely that you’re okay as far as bottlenecking goes. Given that the GPU was a gift, you might want to enjoy the upgrade for now instead of rushing into a CPU upgrade unless you really want that AM5 chipset soon!

That’s good to hear, at least! I’ll keep saving for AM5 but didn’t plan on it yet.

First off, what resolution and settings are you playing at? If you’re on low settings, 85-90 FPS isn’t too bad, especially with a lower-end card like the 5060ti. You can't really upgrade your CPU much at this point, especially with those new X3D chips being tough to get. What’s your monitor’s refresh rate? It could also help to check if using DLSS improves your FPS, depending on your resolution.

My monitor’s at 144Hz, and I’m doing low settings just for FPS. I hear you about budget—it's just frustrating with so many options. I might need to decide between moving to AM5 or just upgrading the CPU, but it seems like there’s not much at this point.

Using DLSS might actually give you a nice boost! Give it a shot if it’s an option for you.
