I recently built a PC featuring an AMD Ryzen 7 8700F, an RTX 5070, and 64 GB of DDR5 RAM, all on an MSI PRO B650 A WiFi motherboard. However, I'm noticing that my CPU temperature is idling around 60-70 degrees Celsius, and it peaks at 97 degrees during demanding games like Stalker 2 and even reaches 95 degrees with games like Nightreign. My friends with other CPUs report significantly lower temperatures, around 60 degrees under similar gameplay conditions. Is this level of heat normal for my CPU? I've seen a few mentions of this issue online, but not extensively. To add, I've noticed that the cooler fan acts strangely—stopping and then spinning a bit counterclockwise before resuming when I boot up a game. My CPU cooler is the stock one, and the CPU is only about 6 months old.

It's common for AMD's AM5 CPUs to hit high temperatures if they're allowed to overclock, but you should be careful. If you're not noticing any performance issues like thermal throttling, then it might just be a quirk of the chip. If the heat bothers you, consider picking up an aftermarket cooler like the Thermalright Phantom Spirit for around $35, which could help manage the heat better and reduce fan noise.
You might want to consider reapplying thermal paste or just going for a better cooler. Sometimes the stock coolers just aren’t enough for higher-end CPUs, especially under load.
Those temps are definitely on the higher side for your CPU, and you might be experiencing some performance drops because of it. What software are you using to monitor those temperatures? Also, what cooler do you have installed?
I'm using MSI Center for monitoring, and the cooler is the stock one.
I haven't had any performance drops, but the noise level is really annoying. Even setting the fan speeds to 100% doesn't get rid of that weird noise.
