I bought a Crucial BX500 500GB SSD (model CT500BX500SSD1) back in February 2025, and I've noticed that its health has plummeted to 68% in just four months. I've only written about 4.2TB to it, according to my CrystalDiskInfo and Storage Executive logs. The games I've played are mostly lower to mid-spec titles like GTA, Batman Arkham Asylum, Spider-Man Web of Shadows, and Watch Dogs 1. My usage mainly consists of casual gaming and browsing, with no heavy file transfers or editing involved. Here are some SMART data points I gathered:
- Avg Block Erase Count: 288
- Power-On Hours: 522
- Power Cycles: 777
- Unexpected Power Loss: 15
- Lifetime Remaining: 68%
There are no reallocated sectors or program fails, but has anyone else experienced such a rapid wear rate? I'm considering doing an RMA—what do you all think?

I'm actually more concerned about your Unexpected Power Loss count. It seems like there might have been sudden shutdowns or disconnections, which isn't good for the SSD. If that's the case, I'd definitely recommend an RMA!
If I were in your shoes, I'd definitely go for an RMA. That's quite a significant drop in health for such little usage!
Yeah, I'm thinking about that too. Better safe than sorry!
I asked GPT and it mentioned that it could be my laptop's issue, not the SSD.
