Hey everyone! I'm based in France and I'm planning to put together a custom PC build through LDLC, where I'll select the parts and they'll handle the assembly. I won't have Windows pre-installed, so I'll take care of that part later. Here's what I'm working with:
- **Case:** Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA (Black)
- **CPU:** Intel Core i7-14700 (boosts up to 5.4 GHz)
- **CPU Cooler:** be quiet! Pure Rock Pro 3 LX Black
- **Motherboard:** MSI B760M GAMING PLUS WIFI
- **RAM:** Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB (2 x 16GB) 5200 MHz CL40
- **Storage:** Corsair Force MP600 GS 500GB (NVMe M.2, just for OS)
- **PSU:** Corsair RM750e (2025)
And I've already purchased the GPU separately:
- **GPU:** Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 WINDFORCE 2X OC V2 12G
I'm hoping to get some feedback:
- Are all these parts compatible with each other?
- Do you think I made good component choices? Are there better options within the same price range?
Thanks a ton for your guidance!

The i7-14700 is kind of a quirky choice and mostly considered outdated. I'd recommend switching to an AM5 setup instead for better longevity and performance. Also, your RAM is on the slower side; shoot for at least 6000 CL30 to keep up with the new standards. And honestly, 500GB isn't going to cut it these days—consider at least 1TB for games. For the GPU, if you got the RTX 4070 for around €600, you might want to weigh your options against the 5070 model available, just make sure it fits your performance needs.
You should definitely check your build on PCPartPicker for compatibility and up-to-date pricing. Overall, it's mostly compatible, but keep in mind that the B760M motherboard isn't the best match for that i7-14700. Also, both the CPU and GPU are a bit older now. Unless you got a fantastic deal on them, I’d suggest looking into a more current AM5 setup instead. If you’re sticking with this build, just be wary of the performance ceiling.
I can actually still return the 4070. I just noticed that the 5070 tends to run hotter and offers minimal performance gains, about 10% at most. Do you think it’s worth switching, or can I make do with the 4070?
