I recently purchased a hard drive from an online marketplace, but when I connected it, my computer doesn't recognize it at all. The drive spins and makes noise, but I can't find any videos that sound like what I'm hearing. It seems like it keeps trying to read something repeatedly. Does this mean it's broken? If so, can it be repaired?

Try connecting it with a different cable if you haven't done that yet. Sometimes a faulty cable can cause issues. Also, is it an internal or external USB drive? If it’s internal, remember to set it up as a slave.
From what you've described, it sounds like the hard drive might be malfunctioning. The repetitive noise is typically not a good sign. I suggest reaching out to the seller for a refund or returning the drive if it was listed as functional.
Definitely check Disk Manager first! Open it up and see if the drive appears there. Sometimes it might not have a drive letter assigned, which you can fix easily.
If you access Device Manager and it doesn’t show up in Disk Management either, it might be a lost cause. But if it does appear there, you can try initializing it or assigning a drive letter.
If it’s just spinning but not making clicking sounds, that’s a little less worrying, but it’s still concerning. Make sure the connections are solid, and if it was sold as working, definitely consider reporting the seller.
