Is my i5-12600 holding back my RTX 5070 for casual gaming?

I've just upgraded my graphics card from an RTX 3070 to an RTX 5070, and now I'm curious if my i5-12600 processor might be bottlenecking performance. Should I think about upgrading to a 13th or 14th generation CPU soon? Would I see a significant performance boost, or is it wiser to wait a year or two before making that upgrade? I mainly use this system for gaming, while my Mac takes care of everything else.

What motherboard are you using? Also, I noticed your build link lists a 265KF model, which isn't from the 13th or 14th generation. Just curious how that fits in.

Sorry! I had the wrong link, I just updated it.

To see if you're experiencing a CPU bottleneck, check your GPU utilization when playing games. If your GPU usage is often below 100%, that's a sign your CPU might be holding you back. How's your usage looking?

It usually hovers around 50%.

Honestly, an i5-12600 should still perform well for light gaming, assuming you have 16GB or more of RAM. Are you on Windows or Linux? That can also make a difference.

Yeah, it’s possible. I noticed my i5-12600k can bottleneck my RTX 3070 ti in some games, depending on what I'm playing. It’s something to keep in mind for your setup.

This really depends on your gaming resolution and the titles you're playing. If you’re gaming at 1080p with lighter games, like Marvel Rivals or Battlefield at medium settings, you might see some bottlenecking. But at 1440p, your setup should handle itself better. I’ve got a similar setup, and my GPU doesn't drop below 90% usage unless I’m playing older titles or tweaking settings heavily. What resolution are you playing at?

I am playing at 1440p.
