Is my laptop screen damaged beyond a simple repair?

Hey everyone,

I accidentally bumped my laptop with my phone, and now there's a visible crack in the screen that only shows up when it's on. The outer glass looks fine, but the display glitches a lot. Do I just need to replace the screen, or could there be more going on? For reference, I have an HP 15.6-inch touchscreen laptop.

Yup, that's definitely a cracked LCD. The digitizer (the outer glass) is fine, so you just need to swap out the 15.6" LCD itself.

Could I do this myself? I've read it may just involve removing the back panel, replacing the LCD, and plugging it back in before sealing it up.

It sounds like you'll at least need a new LCD screen. Depending on how your specific laptop is built, that could vary in complexity.

Try searching for your exact model number along with 'screen replacement' to get a clearer idea of what's involved and the costs.

Thanks, I'm already looking up the specific LCD replacement. It seems manageable!
