Is my Lenovo LOQ 15IRX10 overheating a design issue or a defect?

Hey everyone! I recently bought a Lenovo LOQ 15IRX10 laptop equipped with an Intel Core i5 13450HX and an RTX 5050, mainly for 3D work in Blender and some general 2D graphics tasks. I've noticed that the laptop gets pretty hot—like, really hot! When I was installing drivers, the CPU temperature shot up to 75 degrees Celsius, which was a bit of a letdown. So, I decided to run a CineBench R20 test, and the CPU instantly started thermal throttling, reaching over 98 degrees Celsius and staying there for the entire duration of the test. The room temperature was just 26°C. I tested three modes: Balanced, Performance, and Silent, and the throttling was severe in the first two modes. In Silent mode, it hovered around the 80°C mark, but I saw in hwinfo that the power limit for the package was exceeded. I'm wondering if this is due to insufficient cooling in the design or if there might be something wrong with the processor itself. Any thoughts?

It seems like your laptop could be struggling with heat management, especially given its slim design and high performance components. Honestly, those temperatures aren't too uncommon under stress. A lot of users have reported hitting the 100°C mark with similar setups. I’d suggest considering undervolting the CPU if that option is available, or limiting its power in the BIOS to manage those temps better.

Thanks for the insight! I checked the BIOS, but it doesn’t have voltage reduction options—only three preset modes. I’m a little relieved to know this isn’t a defect, but I’m still worried about how long the CPU can handle that kind of thermal throttling.
