I recently bought a used MacBook Pro 13 with a Retina display that has a Touch Bar. I'm not too familiar with MacBooks, but I've found out that it's around 8 years old, and I can't update it to the latest Mac OS (version 13). Is this a bad situation for me? I bought it for college, but I've run into some issues like not being able to download apps from the App Store. I'm worried about whether it will serve me well in my studies or if I made a mistake in this purchase.

It really depends on what you'll be doing in college. If you just need it for writing papers, watching videos, or browsing the web, it should be fine. But if you're going into something like media, art, or computer science, you might find it lacking. An older Mac might struggle with some tasks, especially creative ones, and you could miss out on the latest apps since the OS is outdated. Just keep that in mind!

Sounds like you've got a bit of a mixed bag with that Mac. Definitely check if it meets your program's needs!
