Is My PC Too Old for Fortnite?

I've been playing Fortnite and recently noticed some stuttering during the pre-game loading stages. I'm curious if my PC build is too outdated for the game or if there are some tweaks I can make in terms of graphics settings or BIOS adjustments. According to Task Manager, my CPU usage is around 85%+ and GPU usage is about 75%+, but I usually don't see stuttering during gameplay. I have XMP enabled in the BIOS, but I'm wondering if overclocking any components might help improve performance. My setup is approaching 10 years old, but I bought most of the components about 4 years ago. Here's my build:
- Intel i7-4790K
- 16GB RAM (1666MHz)
- ASUS Z97 Pro Gamer Motherboard
- 1TB M.2 WD Black SSD
- 250GB SATA SSD
- 2TB SATA HDD
- 1TB SATA HDD
- 750W Corsair PSU

Just a heads-up, I also have a GeForce 1070ti.

You mentioned your GPU, but it seems like the game might be installed on one of your HDDs, right? That could definitely be causing some lag. Your CPU is aging even if it was a top performer back in the day, and while 16GB of RAM is decent, the speed could be an issue too. Just keep in mind that older components may struggle with newer game demands. You could look into overclocking if you're comfortable, but results may vary!

Thanks for the input! I have the game on the WD Black SSD, so maybe that helps a bit with speed. But I appreciate the feedback!

It sounds like your RAM might be holding you back a bit. The SSDs are fine, but your RAM speed at 1666MHz is on the slower side for today’s games. However, since your overall setup is quite dated, it’s impressive that you’re still getting decent framerates. I wouldn’t stress too much about it!
