Is My Phone Overheating a Sign of a Virus?

I own a Samsung Galaxy S24 and I'm worried because the area near the camera feels quite hot. I'm concerned it might lead to an electrical fire. Should I consider doing a factory reset to address potential issues like a virus, or could this just be a hardware problem? What steps should I take?

A factory reset won't help if the issue is overheating from hardware instead of software. If you're concerned about a potential fire, turn off your phone, let it cool down, and remove any case that's trapping heat. If it continues to overheat, definitely get in touch with a repair shop or Samsung support.

Exactly! Your safety comes first, so it's wise to act quickly rather than trying to fix it yourself.

It seems more like a hardware issue than a virus. Phones can heat up for various reasons, especially in the area near the camera where the processor is located. It’s best to check if there’s anything blocking ventilation or if you’re using a thick case. If you’re really worried, you should stop using your phone until you can get it examined.

Your phone can’t get a virus like a living organism! So the overheating issue you’re experiencing is probably not related to any sort of infection. Instead of resetting, focus on monitoring how hot it gets and consult a professional if it doesn't cool down.
