Hey folks, I built this small form factor PC a couple of months back, and while it's been working well for the most part, I'm concerned about the temps I'm seeing. I've got an inverted layout with the GPU on top for looks, but I think that might be contributing to some cooling issues. My temperatures are decent when idle or under light load: around 40-45°C for the CPU and GPU and about 55°C with some light applications. However, during intense tasks, especially when the CPU hits 99% load, the temperature spikes to 93-95°C, which is worrying. I've tried tuning the fan setups without much success. It seems like the GPU's intake fans are pushing hot air into the case and affecting CPU cooling. Should I consider repositioning the GPU? What other cooling solutions should I explore? Thanks!

I would seriously consider upgrading your cooler if possible. A lot of people agree that the stock or basic coolers struggle under full load, especially in SFF cases. Targets like 90°C for short bursts are fine, but consistently hitting 95°C isn't ideal. Your idle temps are good; it's just that load management needs improvement.
AMD's design actually allows the CPU to target around 95°C during heavy multi-threaded workloads like shader compiling. So it might be working as intended, but if you feel uncomfortable with those temps, it might be worth upgrading your cooler or looking into some undervolting options. Just remember, it's not typical to go above the mid-80s under such loads in a tight case like yours. You may have to manage the airflow better too since it's a compact build.
I get your point about designed limits, but at the end of the day, keeping the CPU cooler is key! I think a better cooler could really make a difference.
Honestly, while some folks say 95°C is normal, I think it’s pushing the limits. There's enough anecdotal evidence that many people with similar setups keep their temps lower. Maybe try swapping your GPU's position? It could allow for better airflow and additional fans if you switch to a traditional layout.
That’s what I was thinking too! Switching the GPU should let you add more intake fans. It might help spread out the heat.
Yeah, I've been reading that too! Better cooling would definitely help stabilize those temps during heavy workloads.
