Hey everyone! I'm thinking about building or buying a budget-friendly desktop for my dad, who's currently struggling with an overheating gaming laptop that can only handle a couple of hours of play. I used to build PCs myself, but I've been out of touch with the market for a while. Is there a big difference in gaming performance between Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7? My dad mostly plays Diablo games, so I'm looking for something that can run those smoothly without overheating issues. I'm open to both pre-built systems and builds, but the current options are a bit overwhelming.

I'd recommend going with a Ryzen 5. Even the Ryzen 5 3600 can run modern games at 60 FPS, and you can often find them used for around $50-60. The stock cooler works fine, but if you want quieter operation, splurging on a $20 air cooler can lower temperatures by 10-20 degrees.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve seen that too but a lot of sources keep pushing the Ryzen 7. I’m also thinking about water cooling since it gets hot here. Should I stick with a better air cooler instead?
