Is Switching to Linux a Good Move for a Beginner?

I'm seriously considering switching from Windows 10 to Linux since Windows 11 support is ending soon, and I wanted to get some advice. My main concerns are security and privacy; I'm not comfortable with some of the invasive features in Windows 11. Additionally, I play a lot of games like League of Legends, Genshin Impact, and several Steam titles, and I'm worried about whether these will work on Linux, especially with anti-cheat systems involved. As a total novice, I'm also concerned about how hard Linux will be to learn, the risk of breaking things, and whether it can serve as my daily operating system. Here are a few specific questions I have: 1) Is Linux a suitable choice for someone without any experience? 2) Will I be able to play most of my games? 3) Should I consider dual-booting first? 4) Any recommendations for beginner-friendly distributions?

I was in the same situation as you, contemplating a switch to get away from Windows 11. I tried Arch Linux, but it was a bit overwhelming for a newbie, so I switched to Linux Mint and absolutely love it! It's user-friendly, and I've found that I can usually troubleshoot issues by looking them up online.
