Is the 5080 worth it for 1440p gaming and recording, or is the 5070ti enough?

I'm making the jump to 1440p gaming and need some advice on whether to go with the 5070ti or the 5080. I'm looking to record gameplay at 1440p with 60fps, and I want to maintain an in-game framerate of around 120-144 in the new Call of Duty, ideally with high settings. I'm pairing the GPU with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Given that the price difference isn't huge, would the 5080 be a better choice, or would that be overkill for my needs? I don't plan on switching to 4K gaming anytime soon, so I'm trying to figure out where to best allocate my budget.

The 5080 has great overclocking potential, even rivaling the 4090 in some cases. If you're into that, check out some YouTube videos for proof!

I run an ultrawide 1440p monitor and I have no issues hitting over 60fps in any game with my 5070ti, so it’s definitely capable.

Consider the 9070 XT as well! It outperforms the 5070ti by about 20-30% and is especially good for COD, which runs pretty well on AMD cards.

I have a 5070ti and it's been great for 2K gaming. However, if the 5080 fits your budget without stretching, I'd say go for it!

Using NVENC for recording shouldn't cause any performance drops. I recommend getting the 5080—it might not make a huge difference in performance for COD now, but it's definitely a longer-term investment if you won't be upgrading for a while.

From what I've seen in benchmarks, the 5070ti does really well for those framerates. If you're mostly gaming without recording, it should suit you just fine!

That’s true, but I’m curious if they’re recording while gaming on the same rig. I know a lot of gamers prefer having a separate setup for recording.
