Is the 9060 XT 16 GB a Good Match for My R7 5700G?

Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my setup with a dedicated GPU, specifically the 9060 XT 16 GB. However, I've heard that my R7 5700G CPU might not fully utilize its potential. I'm also looking into getting a PSU and found an ASUS Prime 750W Bronze. Do you think that's a good choice, or is there a better CPU or PSU I should consider? Just to add, I'm not really into competitive gaming—I prefer story-driven games. Also, I usually play at 1080p but am planning to upgrade to 1440p soon after I save some money. Thanks for your help!

The 9060 XT should work fine, although it might not be perfect. The 16GB version isn't heavily impacted by using a PCIe 3.0 interface, unlike the 8GB model which can face issues. Performance will depend on what games you play and your settings, but overall, you should be alright!

Honestly, even with a good 500W PSU, the 9060 XT shouldn't cause any problems. It only draws around 190W at full load. Your 5700G will pair nicely with it for gaming, so you should be set!

Your GPU choice is solid! But I’d suggest upgrading from the 5700G to a cheaper CPU like the 5600 to get better performance. The integrated graphics on the -G chips limit the L3 cache and can impact speed. If you can find a 5600 or something like a Ryzen 3600/3700, that could really help!

I disagree that going for a Ryzen 3600 or 3700 is better in this case. Those might not provide a substantial advantage. The 5600 is a decent upgrade but think carefully about the prices; don’t overpay just for a slight improvement!

You're probably right that your CPU won't fully leverage a high-end GPU. But as long as you’re not pushing ultra settings on AAA titles or using really low-end cards, you shouldn’t stress too much. If you're looking to upgrade, a 5800X would be a worthwhile investment for performance, but grab a 5600 if you find it at a good price!
