I'm gearing up to buy my first PC parts next month, and I've been eyeing the 9800X3D CPU. A while back, I kept coming across stories about them overheating or failing, especially with Asrock motherboards. I'm planning to pair it with a Tomahawk motherboard, but I'm unsure about RAM recommendations since I remember there were some issues related to EXPO settings and Vcore configurations. Do you think I should go ahead and get the 9800X3D, or should I wait for newer options?

There's still some risk, especially with ASRock motherboards. Their latest 3.30 BIOS seems to be better, but there are still reports of dead CPUs. Personally, I’d recommend going with a different motherboard brand. I’ve got my 9800X3D running on an MSI board, and it's been smooth sailing for me.
The standard RAM for a setup like this would be 6000MHz CL30. You can find faster options like CL28 or CL26, but the performance difference isn't huge. My brother's been using a 9800X3D since November without any issues, so if that's the performance you're looking for, I say go for it!
Are there noticeable differences in reliability between brands?
