I'm putting together a new PC and currently have the following components picked out: an Intel Core Ultra 5 Processor 245K, ASUS GeForce RTX 5070 Prime GPU, 32GB of Kingston Fury DDR5 RAM, and a Samsung 1TB SSD, among others. I'm using the ASUS PRIME B860-PLUS WIFI motherboard, but I'm wondering if it's the best choice for my setup. I don't plan on overclocking, but I've also considered upgrading to a Z890 motherboard like the ASUS TUF Gaming Z890-PLUS WIFI or MSI MAG Z890 TOMAHAWK WIFI. However, these options are quite a bit more expensive. Do I really need the Z890, or is the B860 sufficient?

The B860 is perfectly fine if you're not planning to overclock your CPU. If this build mainly focuses on gaming, you might want to consider something like the i5 14600KF or R5 9600X instead of the 245K if you're aiming for peak performance. But honestly, if your usage includes video editing alongside gaming, then the B860 should serve you well.

But isn't the Intel Core Ultra 5 245K actually a newer model that's better in lots of scenarios? Just looking at benchmarks, it seems like a decent pick for gaming!
