I'm thinking about getting a microATX B650M motherboard to pair with a Ryzen 5 7500F and an RTX 4070. However, a friend told me that this setup could be problematic and might even damage the motherboard. Is there any truth to that? I'm a bit tight on my budget, so if I need a better motherboard, I'd consider switching to an RX 7700 XT instead of the RTX 4070.

You'll be totally fine with that setup! The motherboard's quality doesn't affect the GPU’s performance because the graphics card has its own VRMs. So, I’d say trust your instincts over your friend's worries.
Nah, your motherboard should hold up just fine. The only real concern is if the GPU is super heavy and isn’t mounted correctly, which could hurt any PCIe slot. Just make sure it's secure!
What do you mean by that slot issue? How can I make sure it's properly mounted?
