Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my CPU soon and I've come across the Intel Ultra 5, priced between $160 to $200. Here's my current setup: I have an RTX 5060 8GB (I game at 1080p, no hate on that, please!), an i5-9400F, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM running at 3200MHz. The main issue I'm running into is that I need a new motherboard since my GPU is getting bottlenecked by the PCIe version. I've seen a lot of mixed opinions about the Ultra 5, so I'm wondering if it's really worth the investment or if I should look at something else instead?

If you decide to go with an Intel 200 series CPU, keep in mind you'll also need to invest in DDR5 RAM, which can be pretty pricey! On the flip side, if you pick a 13th or 14th gen Intel chip, you can stick with your current DDR4 RAM using a compatible motherboard.
Just so you know, the latest Intel platforms are primarily DDR5 only, and the prices can be daunting. I recommend either sticking with DDR4 and getting a 13th or 14th gen CPU, or if you're set on DDR5, going with AMD for better value.
For a budget-friendly option, consider getting an i5-14600K and sticking with your existing RAM. It’ll give you a nice performance boost without breaking the bank.
The Ultra 5 isn't the best choice if gaming is your main focus. It has some advantages, but honestly, it lags behind the 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs for gaming performance. If you're looking for a solid gaming experience, AMD's AM5 platform is offering some of the best processors right now.
