Hey everyone! I just graduated and am considering taking the Java SE 21 Developer certification exam (1Z0-830). I have a basic understanding of Java, but I'd like to improve my skills further. I'm curious about how employers view this certification—do they really care? Additionally, I've heard the exam is tough, even for seasoned developers, which is a bit intimidating. I'm thinking of starting a project where users can message each other to apply what I learn from the study guide as I go along. Would this be a good approach to preparation?

Honestly, most employers care more about what you can show them over certifications. It’s better to build a GitHub repository with interesting Java projects that highlight your skills. Plus, being able to solve problems on a whiteboard during interviews is crucial too.

Do you think contributing to an open-source project would be beneficial? How can I find such projects to get involved with?
