Hey everyone! My PC guy sent me a quote for a new build, and I'm trying to figure out if it's a good deal based on my casual gaming needs. Here's what he suggested:
- **Motherboard:** MSI B760M GAMING PLUS WIFI
- **CPU:** Intel i5 14400F
- **RAM:** Kingston Fury Beast RGB 16GB 5200MHz
- **SSD:** Kingston 500GB NV3 SSD
- **GPU:** Colorful GeForce RTX 5050 Battle AX Duo 8GB
- **PSU:** Cooler Master Elite NEX PN600 230V Power Supply
- **Casing:** Segotep Endura 240S M-ATX with 3 ARGB fans
The total comes to RM3600, which is about USD 841, and it includes a 2-year warranty once confirmed. I'm not playing super demanding games, but my friend mentioned that Ryzen could be a better and cheaper choice for gaming. Any advice on whether this build is suitable for me? Also, here's a heads-up: my current setup is pretty outdated:
- **Current CPU:** Intel Core i7-7700 @ 3.60GHz
- **Current RAM:** 16GB
- **Current GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB)
- **Current SSDs:** 238GB and 394GB

The specs your PC guy offered are decent for a low-spec modern gaming setup. However, be cautious about the overall price because RM3600 might feel steep for what's included. Just make sure they aren't overcharging you for those parts!
While Ryzen is indeed better performance-wise for gaming, if you’re on a budget and don't plan to upgrade soon, your Intel build is fine. Just be wary of that RTX 5050; swapping it for an RTX 4060 or even a 3060 with 12GB would give you better performance.
For RM3600, I think you could score a better deal. A RX 9060 XT or maybe even a 5060 GPU would offer you more value. Just saying, your tech guy should offer something more competitive.
Hey, since you’re in Malaysia, where did you get this quote from? Just wondering which shop is quoting that setup.
I got the quote from Contech Computer (M) Sdn. Bhd.
The RTX 5050 isn’t that great performance-wise, so consider looking for a used RTX 2070 or 2070 Super for comparable performance, likely at a lower price. Also, that power supply you mentioned isn't very reliable; I recommend avoiding it altogether. For budget gaming, Intel's i5-14400F is good though!
Honestly, for that price, I expect some better components. The unit seems dated already, especially with the AAA games coming out soon. Double-check that setup before spending.
Thanks for your input! I’ll keep that in mind for my decision.
Thanks for the heads-up! I'll definitely check the prices more closely.
